"So very interesting and stimulating --- it brings out more questions and the search for knowledge and understanding of "The Way"....Grandfather Rick is an incredible source of information and directions for practicing the ways. Most importantly, he wants to share this with us, so that we understand and can apply this gentle fair balanced way of living, thinking and feeling."

The first study in this book study group is Spirit & Reason. We will enter Indian Country through the eyes and mind of Vine Deloria, Jr., "one of the most important thinkers of the twentieth century." Spirit & Reason is Deloria’s Reader, a collection of representative works, the exploration of which will shed light on Indians’ Lifeways and spirituality, and on how they have survived 500 years of assault from mainstream politics and policies, economy, social engineering, academia, land abuse, and religion. Other texts will be referred to as needed to shed more light on these issues.

This group meets every other Wednesday and is well-suited to those pursuing expanded personal, social, and environmental awareness using the wisdom, experience, and spiritual insights of Indigenes as their guide. Be prepared: you will learn how to rise above mainstream indoctrination, how to break out of mainstream’s group-think box, and in ways that will challenge you. But the growth in you will be worth the effort. We will take as much time on this as is necessary. If you decide to join this group, please do so with a commitment to attend every session. Discussions will be direct and frank. You do not need to read the entire book prior to starting as we will not follow a linear order.
"This is a great group. We do not only read and talk about a book. The discussion and sharing of opinion and experience of every day life events that relate to what we read is really incredible.

Every time we meet is a very profound experience and each time I get a better understanding of how we should incorporate the old ways of life into the new modern way."
